Every year they are making lounge wear look fashionable! The fashion is in the shoulder cutout. Not only did Vetements showcase this trend, but other designers such as Jeremy Scott did as well. This will be a big trend Spring 2017 so be on the look out!

Remember when being in girl scouts was cool? Well the sash is back and it’s better than ever! The boycott sash hit the runway in many shows this New York Fashion Week. Make sure you hop on this trend before it’s hot.
(Phillip Lim Spring 2017)
We talked about the shoulder cutout being a hot trend, now it’s time to talk about the sleeve slits. This simple slit in your sleeve can take your outfit from drab to fab! It’s very trendy and gives a sophisticated look.

Another saturday another fashion event to network at. On Saturday July 30th, Chicago’s fashion savys came out to ‘Cocktails With Claire x Miss Diddy’. Hosted at 19 East venue, the evening included a panel of personalities and influencers in the fashion and beauty industry discussing ways we can all use our creativity to its full potential.
The panel consisted of Claire Sulmers (FashionBombDaily,) Miss Diddy (The Brand Group,)Kendra G. (107.5 WGCI-FM), celebrity make-up artist Ashunta Sheriff, and entrepreneur Bobby Simmons.
We had the opportunity to sip and shop with fellow fashionistas. After the panel, attendees mixed and mingled with vendors, sipped complimentary drinks sponsored by Hennessy, and posed for pictures.
If you follow me on snapchat @chichi_nneka you would know I explained this selfie moments with claire herself.
We posed for a pic with claire and my friend Coco who also is a fashionGirl owner of Shopwithcoco
My look for the event was simple with a little detail.
Excited, Something great happened from attending this event. #networking, will be visible soon.
Another fun collaboration with RedHedCreativeStudio project #ChiChiInTheCity #ChicagoStreetStyle. We shot this entire look at the Dusable bridge, the bridge carries Michigan Avenue across the main stem of the Chicago River in downtown Chicago, Illinois. Unfortunately for us it was also Taste of Chicago weekend so you can imagine how crowded and busy downtown was. We still managed to get some good wide range shot without anyone in the background.
My look for the day was this lightweight semi fitted short sleeve button down shirt, perfect for sunny days or warm nights. It goes perfectly with jeans or a fitted skirt. My button up turned into a sleevless shirt, thanks to my handy dandy scissors.
Never underestimate the power of a button down. Now double that statement when it comes to a classic stripe button down shirt. Button down shirt is one of the most versatile garments a woman could own, from it’s ability to challenge the vibe you are trying to set to overall changing your whole look.
The versatilely can go from high fashion, casual cute, preppy, to the clean crisp look.
The bag I am carrying is by an European desigher Nine by Anita Loncar.
Through out this spring and summer I have the pleasure of collaborating with RedHeadCreativeStudio in a new project “Style in Chicago” featuring the best of my personal style captured around the city of chicago. So expect some cool looks all through this ss16 from me in some of chicago famous locations. This past weekend I had my first shoot and of course we shot this look around Millennium Park second most popular tourist attraction in Chicago. I decided to go for a casual and playful look; most often what comes to mind are jeans or khakis, paired with any top, including a T-shirt, as long as it looks polished.
The First ever African Fashion Week Chicago took place this past weekend; september 26th – 27th. It was a two day event filled with fashion, music, art and a great time. I attended both days and I must say I found this experience very rewarding, not only was it a good opportunity to network with industry professionals and fashion enthusiasts, it was also refreshing to enjoy an art exhibition from Chicago based artist Solomon Adufa and Ben Olafemi Kayede, the two great artists collaborated on an artwork that was later put on silent auction during the fashion show. Day one kicked of with Singer-songwriter Nola Ade performing a soulful song and ended with lovely African inspired designs such as Wanda Grace and Maryam Garba LLC.
Day two of African Fashion week Chicago was even bigger and more exciting. I was glad to see a lot of familiar faces; People actually came out to support and be a part of a good thing. The designers such as 828 Collection, Akese Style lines, Yasika Mode, House of Leigh, and Issa Sorogo showcased their designs with lovely afrobeat music playing. I loved the style of the runway it wasn’t your typical straight stage or T- stage, it was more of a U shaped runway, where the models actually went all around making it possible for everyone to get a good view of the garment.
I am clearly going to be posting more often on my blog because I figured out how to make my iphone pics more worthy. I seriously cannot remember to take my canon with me at all times, I mean I can barely remember to wear earrings after dressing up (I hate it when I forget to wear earrings… worst feeling ever!!!) not to even talk about bringing my canon with me every time I go out. ANYWAYS, moving along… this past weekend was pretty good; started my Friday at the mall, no I wasn’t shopping I can tell you now I am more of an online shopper, I literally buy everything online… Hair, clothes, shoes, electronics, Gbo Gbo EGbo I buy them online. I ended my FRIDAY at a friends House Party, I think we were celebrating his new job and some other great accomplishments… lol well it was a party sha and I was there with my hookah. God save me this summer cause this hookah thing I will OD on it, we all know too much of anything is not good for you.
SATURDAY was another wedding day, and I decided to make my wedding outfit. Along with a whole lot of girls in the world I am obsessed with FLORAL PRINT! and yes I did put a crown on there just to emphasis on floral being King in all SS14 trend. I try to buy Fabrics that come in wholesale quantity and re-sellers price because I just don’t do it for myself but also for zurikgirl. This Summer ZG will be testing the waters on our own lable ZURIK by zurikgirl. Just a few designs and items will be available coming soon this June at zurikgirl.
I was a little discouraged when I laid it on my bed and it almost looked like my bed-sheets.
Then I got done with my skirt and it looked good.
AFTER I WAS DONE I LOVED IT! EVEN WITHOUT TRYING IT ON!
SATURDAY GETTING READY TO ATTEND THE WEDDING
If you really know me, you would know I am not a fan of Makeup, for me to be a girlie girl I really hate putting makeup on my face unless I need it. It doesn’t help that today its all about contouring of the face and heavy eyebrows; good thing my eyebrows are not thin and I am content with just the regular way of applying makeup until the occasion permits and I have a professional MUA to contour my face to the GODS.
Showing you my face because my sister Yewande is into makeup and she did my sharp smokey eye! which I loved. For all my ZG photo shoots she handles the makeup department and I am very grateful for her.
I did my Lashes myself and well…. I tired lol
SUNDAY CHURCH OUTFIT. I TRIED THIS MIXING PRINT THING AND IT LOOKED GOOD. DIFFERENT SNAKE PRINTS AND COLOR.
AFTER BRUNCH WITH THE FAMILY, I MET UP WITH ONE OF MY GOOD FRIENDS DUPE, SHE’S BEEN TELLING ME ABOUT THIS AMAZING!!!!!!!!! HIDDEN WHOLESALE FABRIC STORE FOREVER!!. BEING THAT THE STORE OWNERS ARE JEWISH, THEY HAVE THE MOST RANDOM STORE HOURS, CLOSED ON SATURDAYS AND OPEN ON SUNDAYS TILL 4PM. OF COURSE AFTER MISSING OUR EXIT AND TURNS A COUPLE OF TIMES WE FINALLY MADE IT TO THE STORE AND HAD ONLY 30 MINUTES TO LOOK AROUND 😦
I FOUND THIS IMPRINT ORGANZA FABRIC AND LOVED IT!!!!
I WILL DEFINITELY BE GOING BACK TO LOOK AROUND! THE STORE IS HUMONGOUS!! AND 30 MINUTES FELT LIKE ONLY 2 MINUTES!
