I just wanted to give a quick post on my return. As usual I do not blog during the winter for whatever reason I do not even know myself but it seems to work for me. As Spring is finding it way out and Summer slowly approaches I will be back with my very first post soon. I am happy to say that I will be collabrating again with RedHeadCreative studio Chicago for my #ChichiInTheCity Series. I cant wait to style my personal looks and slay all over the city of Chicago.
Till then pls be sure to follow me on all social media
Another saturday another fashion event to network at. On Saturday July 30th, Chicago’s fashion savys came out to ‘Cocktails With Claire x Miss Diddy’. Hosted at 19 East venue, the evening included a panel of personalities and influencers in the fashion and beauty industry discussing ways we can all use our creativity to its full potential.
The panel consisted of Claire Sulmers (FashionBombDaily,) Miss Diddy (The Brand Group,)Kendra G. (107.5 WGCI-FM), celebrity make-up artist Ashunta Sheriff, and entrepreneur Bobby Simmons.
We had the opportunity to sip and shop with fellow fashionistas. After the panel, attendees mixed and mingled with vendors, sipped complimentary drinks sponsored by Hennessy, and posed for pictures.
If you follow me on snapchat @chichi_nneka you would know I explained this selfie moments with claire herself.
We posed for a pic with claire and my friend Coco who also is a fashionGirl owner of Shopwithcoco
My look for the event was simple with a little detail.
Excited, Something great happened from attending this event. #networking, will be visible soon.
Another fun collaboration with RedHedCreativeStudio project #ChiChiInTheCity #ChicagoStreetStyle. We shot this entire look at the Dusable bridge, the bridge carries Michigan Avenue across the main stem of the Chicago River in downtown Chicago, Illinois. Unfortunately for us it was also Taste of Chicago weekend so you can imagine how crowded and busy downtown was. We still managed to get some good wide range shot without anyone in the background.
My look for the day was this lightweight semi fitted short sleeve button down shirt, perfect for sunny days or warm nights. It goes perfectly with jeans or a fitted skirt. My button up turned into a sleevless shirt, thanks to my handy dandy scissors.
Never underestimate the power of a button down. Now double that statement when it comes to a classic stripe button down shirt. Button down shirt is one of the most versatile garments a woman could own, from it’s ability to challenge the vibe you are trying to set to overall changing your whole look.
The versatilely can go from high fashion, casual cute, preppy, to the clean crisp look.
The bag I am carrying is by an European desigher Nine by Anita Loncar.
Hey guys, I am back with another collaboration with RedHeadCreativeStudio with my project “Style in Chicago” featuring the best of my personal style captured around the city of chicago. This time, I decided to incorprate another zurikgirl item.
I am wearing Zurikgirl “Shakara Oloje” Skirt and I turned my over sized button Up shirt into an off shoulder top. If you follow me on my snapchat (@chichi_nneka) you will understand my love for reconstructing, tweeking and DIY(ing) all my clothes. This season, I am all about the obvious details like ruffles and layers, a wrapped waist, a slashed cutout, or an asymmetrical hemline to liven up any look.
We shot this look on the busy intersection of Broadway, a major street in Chicago’s Lake View, Uptown, and Edgewater community area. Random fact: The name of the street was changed to Broadway on August 15, 1913, my birthday is on August 16th. :). Broadway is the only street in the city of Chicago that does not have a suffix. It is neither a Street, Avenue, Road, Boulevard nor Parkway; known simply as Broadway, how cool!
My shoes are Badgley Mischka, and My purse I purchased from Aldo last summer.
Through out this spring and summer I have the pleasure of collaborating with RedHeadCreativeStudio in a new project “Style in Chicago” featuring the best of my personal style captured around the city of chicago. So expect some cool looks all through this ss16 from me in some of chicago famous locations. This past weekend I had my first shoot and of course we shot this look around Millennium Park second most popular tourist attraction in Chicago. I decided to go for a casual and playful look; most often what comes to mind are jeans or khakis, paired with any top, including a T-shirt, as long as it looks polished.
If you really know me you would know that I usually plan and go a bit over board for my birthday.
I get all excited and cray cray about it, countdown the days, bug my sisters and friends with all my silly ideas, go out dancing and head home in the early hours, and basically act like its a super long holiday.
This year I kept things much more mellow if I do say so myself, I celebrated with friends and family I mean that was the best gift anyone could ask for.
My birthday weekend Ended with a Fun Night at Shrine Afrofusion Party Hosted by DIS-entertainment. Did so much in-between my birthday weekend Friday – Sunday… snapchat (chichi_nneka) got all that story.
The Second best part of my birthday was going to Miami that following week!!!!! Third time in Miami but it felt so different cause this time I wasn’t going with friends or my sisters….. I went with my Boyfriend. 🙂
barely took pics in MIA because, basically everyday was a No-MAKEUP day it was so humid I couldn’t take it.
Blushing so hard bae gave me a whole photoshoot I even had to capture the moment
Yall should know he didn’t just sit and agree to a damn photoshoot lmfaoooooo…..The story behind these pictures was; I simply was begging Jolo to take my picture and this nice middle aged caucasian lady heard me and answered my cries. She suggested we both take pictures together and even lead us to diff locations hehehehe …. Low-key she gave us a little interview about our relationship and it turned out she is a photographer and everyday womens journalist of real life stories. She also featured us on her IG page with a nice caption.
Overall My birthday Month was splendid!! now I will forever be turning 25!! its my not so perfect age. 🙂 SUMMER CAN OFFICIAL END NOW! CHURCH AGBASALA!!!
Chicago never gave us the summer we wanted so we planned a trip to Cancun, Mexico to enjoy the sun. Although cancun is a very popular destination for Spring Breakers, there are plenty of great reasons to visit Cancun at any time of the year. It was perfect timimng to celebrate my friends birthday plus go on vacation since we couldnt during 4th of july weekend our usual summer vaca period.
We stayed at Ocean Turquesa Cancun Resort and the area around and away from the main resort is bursting with historical interest including many sites of other resorts.
As a tropical destination, of course I expected temperatures to soar above 90 degrees, and for the most part it was way hotter than I thought. Cancun is definitely a place for swimsuits, topping up your tan, relaxing on the beach cocktail in hand, or simply chilling by the pool.
Got alot of questions about my hair and swimsuits. our color splash swimsuit is from an independent UK store Stay-Sick you can check them out here Stay-sick.com. For my hair suprisingly it is not Virgin like I ususally do; sometimes I dabble into that syntheic and human fiber blend hair especially when I only plan on keeping it for 2 weeks. My hair is Outre Batik Duo Premium Multi Blend Weave Caribbean Bundle Hair 5Pcs, I bought 2 packs and in toatal it cost me only $38. I found it at my local beauty supply but you can buy it here. My hair is in the color 27 and color 30, the lighter shade ontop. I was able to swim in this hair and also co-wash the hair.
On Saturday we also got the opportunity to experience thee genuine Mexican market, it was a bit overwhelming, becauce everyone wanted to stop us an take pictuers, I guess we looked very American. Me being the tourist I wanted to take pictuers of them. I enjoyed the market trip alot, got to try more local fruit and had one of the best beef tacos ever.
We participated in diffrent type of Zip- lining. the Best experience was zipling into the river!! for a girl who cant swim I was brave enough to do it.
So far the best part about Mexico to me were the fruits!!!!! I have never tasted anything as fresh or sweet like I did in Mexico. I also fell in love with Dragon friut, Lychee, and Guava. They even had sweet paw paw!!!
Overall we spent four days in Cancun and I only remembered my digital camera on day 3. Sadly this blog does not cover the whole of my trip but it is good enough for my memory bank and to share with my readers. In other news!!!!! Guess who has a birthday coming up???? ME!! ME!!! turning the big 25 … 23. You can follow me on snap at chichi_nneka and IG at chichi_nneka for Instant Update on all my paroles.
